Description

The most frequented paragliding site in Guernsey is located near the Observation Tower, offering excellent coastal soaring opportunities. The site is well accessible and features a large take-off area. For visiting pilots, it is essential to contact the Guernsey Paragliding Club (GPC) first at http://guernseyparagliding.com/cms_gpc. Take-off directions range from 240 degrees to 290 degrees. Note that there is no bottom landing available at this site. To get there, head to the South West Corner of Guernsey in the Parish of Torteval and follow signs for 'Pleinmont Tower'. The site is situated next to the Tower. Flight regulations are strict due to the proximity of the airport. All flying is within Class 'A' airspace and requires prior permission from the airport. Pilots must be members of the GPC and either Guernsey residents or accompanied by a GPC member if visiting. Prior registration with the airport via the GPC is mandatory and takes approximately two weeks. The maximum altitude allowed is 60 meters above take-off, and cross-country flights (XCs) are not permitted.
