Paragliding Guernsey Pleinmont North
Best Conditions
Optimal Wind Direction
Optimal Speed (mph)
Description
The site offers coastal soaring with a takeoff direction ranging from 340 degrees to 020 degrees. No flight logs are available for this location. Visiting pilots should contact the Guernsey Paragliding Club (GPC) first at [Guernsey Paragliding Club](http://guernseyparagliding.com/cms_gpc).
Landing is available at the bottom of the hill, with additional options on Portelet or Rocquaine beach. Top landing onto the takeoff area is possible but challenging due to its restricted size. Another top landing option is in the camping fields behind the trees on top of the ridge, but be cautious of rotor if landing close to the trees.
Landing on Portelet or Rocquaine beach is subject to seasonal and time restrictions, is difficult, and requires experience. It is recommended to consult a club member before attempting this.
Weather hazards include potential rotor created by trees to the east during takeoff and until you are above them.
Flight regulations require reading the club rules on the [Guernsey Paragliding Club (GPC) website](http://www.guernseyparagliding.com). The area is classified as Class 'A' airspace, and flying is only permitted with prior permission from the airport. Pilots must be members of the GPC and Guernsey residents, or if visiting, they must be accompanied by a GPC member and be pre-registered with the airport via the GPC (registration takes approximately 2 weeks). The maximum altitude allowed is 60 meters above takeoff due to the proximity of the airport. Cross-country flights are not allowed.
For more information, contact the Guernsey Paragliding Club at contact@guernseyparagliding.com.
Parking is available at the takeoff site with GPS coordinates 49.4338 N, 2.6731 W. There is no parking at the bottom landing as the road is permanently closed, so leave your car at the takeoff parking site. The landing parking GPS coordinates are 49.4338 N, 2.673 W.
