Description
This coastal soaring site is occasionally used and has no recorded flight logs. Visiting pilots should contact the Guernsey Paragliding Club (GPC) at http://guernseyparagliding.com/cms_gpc before planning a flight.
Takeoff is oriented between 290 and 340 degrees. The takeoff area is relatively small and located in front of the car park at the South West Corner of Guernsey, in the Parish of Torteval. Look for signs for 'Pleinmont Tower' and continue past the tower to the car park.
Landing options include a limited bottom landing area and a top landing field to the west behind a bunker or back at the takeoff area. Note that there is no vehicle access for bottom landing; cars should be left at the takeoff car park.
Flight regulations require reading the club rules on the GPC website. The site is within Class 'A' airspace, and flying is permitted only with prior permission from the airport. Pilots must be members of the GPC and Guernsey residents, or visiting pilots must be accompanied by a GPC member and pre-registered with the airport via the GPC (registration takes approximately two weeks). The maximum altitude allowed is 60 meters above takeoff due to the proximity of the airport, and cross-country flights are not permitted.
For more information, contact the Guernsey Paragliding Club at contact@guernseyparagliding.com. Parking coordinates for takeoff are 49.4338 N, 2.673 W, and for landing, 49.4338 N, 2.6729 W.
