Park at the side of the Tweedsmuir to St Mary's Loch road, east of the Megget Stone. Ensure you park in a suitable location without blocking passing places or cattle grids.
Take-Off:
Grid Reference: NT167175
Follow the quad track up to the takeoff. It’s a fair walk but worth it. Once at the top, pick a suitable place to take off.
Landing:
Find a suitable landing spot.
Flying:
This site is rarely flown due to the long walk, but it can be rewarding. The BP Cup competition has been held here, with flights extending to the Beeftub and then on to Tinto. It can also be flown in winter as part of a 'fly walk'.
Hazards:
The area features big hills and is quite remote. The walk in is long, and mobile reception is limited. Check NOTAM and CANP, especially if flying mid-week, as the area is used for low-flying military exercises.
Notes:
A fly walk route can be made easier by leaving a car at the Grey Mare's Tale parking. The site is not often flown due to the long walk in.
