Description
The launch site at 1802 meters is frequently used and serves as an excellent starting point for cross-country flights. Located in the Hopfgarten/Söll region of Austria, this site offers a record flight distance of 173.2 km. The area is known for its versatility, allowing launches in various directions, with landing zones depending on where you park.
The grassy summit of Hohe Salve provides excellent flying conditions, with thermal updrafts available early in the year. You can reach the Hohe Salve via the mountain railway from either Söll or Hopfgarten. All launch sites are situated near the summit. The landing zone in Söll is located along the access road to the mountain railway, while the landing zone in Hopfgarten is on a meadow below the main road.

The site operates in winter until early April and in summer from mid/late May to mid-October. Due to early thermal updrafts, the 'Salve' is ideal for winter and spring flying, although it can become crowded. Launching is possible in almost all directions, but hang gliders should note that the north launch is relatively flat. The site is not particularly susceptible to Foehn or north winds.
