Parapente Gasslhöhe Reiteralm

At an altitude of 1977 meters with a height difference of approximately 1100 meters, this site offers an easy paragliding experience. In summer, you can enjoy a hike & fly experience, taking about an hour from the mountain station. It's a bit strenuous but rewarding. In winter, this area transforms into a ski resort, making the ascent easier. This site is occasionally used, offering enjoyable flights with some potential for cross-country flying. Landing options include mowed meadows in Gleiming or Pichl. The launch site is a large grassy area on the ridge of Gasselhöhe. The flying season is year-round if you are willing to hike. In winter, you can take the gondola and chairlift to Reiteralm, followed by a 20 to 30-minute hike to Gasselhöhe. In summer, you can drive via the Preuneggtal toll road to the first huts of Reiteralm, then hike for about an hour. The site is suitable for paragliders and is an approved training area. The launch site is a large grassy area below the ridge of Gasselhöhe, with typical landings in Pichl. This is a year-round flying site suitable for soaring, test flights, thermal flights, and cross-country flights. It is not heavily frequented. In winter, under suitable conditions, you can enjoy calm, leisurely flights lasting about 15-20 minutes. Access in winter is via the Reiteralm cable car and chairlift to 1860 meters, followed by a 20-30 minute hike to Gasselhöhe. In summer, the cable car operates only on Thursdays. The west launch site is just south of the Gasselhöhe summit, facing west. In both summer and winter, the ascent can be longer in deep snow. There are also good landing options in the western Forstau area. At the Reiteralm valley station, you can inquire about wind conditions at the summit, and the information is quite reliable. In winter, paragliders are well-treated by the lift staff, with the chairlift stopping if needed and priority given over skiers during busy times. The atmosphere is very friendly, which is not always the case everywhere. The landing field is a large meadow east of the Pichl bathing lake and east of Cafe Gerharter, marked by a windsock at 800 meters. It offers a large landing area but watch out for power lines. There is a small, turbulent area next to the landing site along Preuneggstraße, so aim to land near the windsock. Please note: The launch site is unsuitable for southern wind conditions. At the Pichl landing site, be cautious of power lines. Occasionally, strong currents from the Preuneggtal valley wind system can occur.
