Description
This paragliding site, situated at an altitude of 1890 meters, is rarely used and is ideal for hike & fly enthusiasts and leisure flights.
The launch area is relatively flat at first but becomes steeper. It can accommodate at least two paragliders side by side.
Flights typically head northwest into the Ennstal towards Radstadt or west directly into the Taurachtal. Be cautious during summer as the valley is very narrow; it's advisable to watch for valley winds or fly towards Radstadt.
Walk and Fly
Starting Point:
Gasthof 'Waldherr' located directly on the B99.
Directions:
From the Gasthof, follow various forest paths uphill in an easterly direction. At approximately 1580 meters altitude, continue cross-country to reach the launch site.
Access:
Take the Tauernautobahn A10 towards Villach, exit at Radstadt, then follow the B99 towards Radstadt. Continue on the B99 towards Obertauern. The Gasthof 'Waldherr' is located on the left side of the B99.
Additional Information:
Near the launch site, you will find the ski lifts of the Forstau ski area. In winter, you can take the lifts (some of which are tow lifts) up to Trinkeralm and then hike approximately 2 km along the ridge to the launch site.
