Located at an elevation of 1028 meters with a height difference of 520 meters, this site offers an alternative takeoff known as "Better than Spine launch." This launch is preferred by some because it avoids the switchy winds that can come from either side of a spine. However, it requires a 350-foot hike up, which takes about 17 minutes, making it less popular among pilots who prefer convenience. This site is not affiliated with the USHPA and is situated off Greenspot Road, east of Highland, accessible via the 210 freeway. It is particularly favorable in winter when north winds prevail at Marshall, often under Santa Ana conditions. The area is on BLM land, open to the public, and accessible via a driveable dirt road.
