Description
Located at an altitude of 2300-2380 meters, this paragliding site is rarely used and is known for its short, enjoyable flights, primarily in winter when accessed via chairlift. In summer, it is popular for hike-and-fly activities.

To reach the launch site, take the chairlift from Churwalden to Alp Stätz, then hike to the launch area, which is a moderately steep grassy slope.
Churwalden is located 8 km south of Chur, the capital of the canton, on the pass road to Lenzerheide. The territory reaches the ridge at Stätzerhorn (2574 m) and Fulhorn (2529 m) on the left side of the valley, and extends to Täliflue (2301 m) on the right side, which is in front of Gürgaletsch, the northernmost spur of the Rothorn range. Downstream, the Rabiusa has created a narrow, mostly pathless gorge through erosion of the soft Bündner schist layers.
Alp Stätz, at the foot of Stätzerhorn, offers a north-facing launch site in an active thermal area.
Flight:
From Alp Stätz, you can connect to the Fanas-Davos-Flims triangle under good conditions. Alternatively, enjoy soaring at Alp Stätz or take leisurely flights to Parpan or Lenzerheide.
Difficulty:
Beware of turbulent conditions caused by the Föhn wind and the north valley wind, especially in mid-year. Landing near Valbella can also be quite turbulent.

Soaring Conditions:
In winter, you can soar in icy conditions at Alp Stätz during Bise winds.
