To reach the launch site, take the chairlift from Churwalden to Alp Stätz. From there, it's a 90-minute hike to the launch site, which is a moderately steep, hilly meadow.
Churwalden is located 8 km south of the cantonal capital Chur, on the pass road to Lenzerheide. The territory reaches the ridge at Stätzerhorn (2574 m, the highest point of the municipality) and Fulhorn (2529 m) on the left side of the valley. On the right side, it extends up to Täliflue (2301 m), which is in front of Gürgaletsch, the northernmost spur of the Rothorn range.
Down the valley, the Rabiusa river has created a narrow, mostly pathless gorge through erosion of the soft Bündner schist layers.
Alp Stätz, at the foot of Stätzerhorn, offers a north-facing launch opportunity in an active thermal area.
Flight:
From Alp Stätz, you can connect to the Fanas-Davos-Flims triangle under good conditions. Alternatively, enjoy soaring at the Alp or take leisure flights to Parpan or Lenzerheide.
Difficulty:
The Föhn wind can be turbulent. The valley wind from the north is also challenging in mid-year. Landing near Valbella can often be quite turbulent.

Soaring Conditions:
In winter, you can soar in icy conditions at the Alp during Bise winds.
