Conditions Optimales
Description
The launch site at Wittelsbacher Turm in Bad Kissingen, Germany, is primarily for experienced pilots. The takeoff requires precise wind conditions, specifically a direct headwind. Side winds can create dangerous wind rotors and turbulence. Additionally, the wind must be strong enough to ensure a sufficient glide angle to clear the tall beech trees below the launch site, otherwise, tree landings are likely.
The launch site is located at an altitude of 385 meters above sea level, with coordinates N50.163182, E10.075407. The landing zone is a meadow at the foot of the mountain, at 285 meters above sea level, with coordinates N50.0959, E10.0432. There is ample space for landing.
Flying is only recommended with a north wind. Rotor effects can occur with northeast winds, making it dangerous. An orientation session is mandatory before flying due to the hazards of the launch site.
Access and parking are available at designated spots near the launch site and the landing area at the cemetery in Arnshausen. The site is managed by the Gleitschirmflugverein Saaletal, and the contact persons are Burkard Kuhn and Matthias Wacker.
For refreshments, the Gasthausbrauerei "Wittelsbacher Turm" is conveniently located near the launch site.
