Description
Montefalcone, Italy, offers a versatile paragliding experience with its dual north and south exposures, allowing for flights almost year-round, provided the wind isn't too strong. The takeoff point is situated at approximately 900 meters above sea level, with the landing zone near the industrial area of Celenza sul Trigno. The access road to the takeoff is paved.
Due to its central location and dual exposure, Montefalcone is a popular spot among local pilots. The recommended flying season is all year round. From the north, you can enjoy thermodynamic flights along a continuous ridge of about 5 km, utilizing the sea breeze. From the south, the ridge extends approximately 10 km to Castelmauro, with altitudes often exceeding 2,000 meters.
The highest altitude recorded here is 3,300 meters above sea level, achieved on July 15, 2001, by Domenico Pizzi. This site is excellent for cross-country flights, with the possibility of easily reaching the Apennine Mountains in Puglia.
The landing zone is the same for both north and south takeoffs. From the south takeoff, you can glide down comfortably, while from the north takeoff, you need to maintain altitude along the ridge to reach the landing zone.
