Description
Montefalcone, Italy, offers a versatile paragliding experience with its dual north and south-facing slopes, allowing for year-round flying, provided the wind isn't too strong. The takeoff point is situated at approximately 900 meters above sea level, with the landing zone located near the industrial area of Celenza sul Trigno. The access road to the takeoff is paved.
Montefalcone is a popular spot among local pilots due to its central location and dual exposure. From the north, pilots can enjoy dynamic soaring along a continuous ridge of about 5 km, utilizing the sea breeze. The southern ridge extends approximately 10 km to Castelmauro, with altitudes often exceeding 2,000 meters.
The highest altitude recorded here is 3,300 meters above sea level, achieved by Domenico Pizzi on July 15, 2001. This site is excellent for cross-country flights, with the possibility of reaching the Apennine Mountains in Puglia.
The landing zone is the same for both north and south takeoffs. From the south takeoff, you can glide down comfortably, while from the north takeoff, you need to maintain altitude along the ridge to reach the landing zone.
