Monte Venere offers a launch hill that allows take-offs both to the east and southwest. The site is regularly used and offers both thermal and dynamic soaring, making it a good spot for cross-country flights. To get there, drive from Taormina towards Castelmola. At the last hairpin turn before Castelmola, take a narrow road that goes down slightly and then back up. Follow the signs for 'Venere' around the mountain to reach the launch site. Be aware of the high-voltage power lines nearby, which make it essential to get a briefing from local pilots before flying. Depending on wind conditions, the glide angle can be tight, so it's beneficial to have a local pilot lead the way.
