Description

Mount Etna, standing at 2800 meters, presents a challenging paragliding experience. Due to frequent strong winds, flying opportunities are limited to just a few days each year. It is crucial to contact local pilots or flight schools before planning your flight. Access the site by taking the Linguaglossa exit and continuing towards Piana Provenzana – Etna. The mountain is often shrouded in clouds, and the isolated giant is known for its strong winds. Despite its significant height, the slopes are so gentle that without thermal lift, a paraglider's glide ratio is insufficient. Landing on volcanic rock can be risky, and the lack of roads makes the descent an adventure, especially in foggy or bad weather conditions. Transportation to the launch site is managed by the operating company that owns the roads. Flying on Mount Etna is not straightforward. Those determined to try should contact one of the local flight schools or seek assistance from helpful local pilots. For a memorable experience, consider hiking on Mount Etna. The nature trail near Rifugio Citelli on the Etna North road at about 1700 meters above sea level is a great option. For excursions to the upper craters, you must go through one of the tour operators. For more information, visit [Etna Fly](http://www.etnafly.com/voli_sicilia.htm).
