Conditions Optimales
Description
This site is rarely used and primarily suitable for local soaring in medium wind conditions. It is soarable in a southerly wind but is quite steep and small, with shrubs and bushes making it difficult to soar in light winds. Flying is not permitted if there are sheep in the field at the base of the hill.
Before visiting, you must contact the owner, Geoff Ryman, at 01491 651611 to ensure there are no sheep and to obtain the key for the gate at the end of the drive.
The site is located on Ordnance Survey Map: Explorer 170 SU 569 850. The wind direction should be south, plus or minus 5 degrees. The height above sea level is 300 feet, with a top-to-bottom height of 100 feet.
The airspace is Class G up to 4500 feet, but no cross-country flights have been recorded from this site. The best height gain is unknown.
This site is suitable for pilots of all levels.
