Paragliding Lardon Chase
Best Conditions
Optimal Wind Direction
Optimal Speed (mph)
Description
Lardon Chase offers a stunning view of Goring, featuring the town's bridge, locks, and weir. This prominent hill has a steep south-east face suitable for soaring, while the east face is tree-covered and unlaunchable, and the northerly slope is shallow and unsoarable, adjacent to the Goring and Streatley Golf Club. The south-east face provides a tight top landing area and a good bottom landing area, though caution is needed due to cables running parallel with the road. The site can be quite thermic, requiring careful handling in dynamic lift conditions due to the upwind airflow.
To access the site, drive up the steep hill from the crossroads, passing the Bull public house car park on your left. Turn sharp right at the brow of the hill to find a National Trust car park. From there, walk along the path until you reach the steepest part of the hill overlooking Goring. The take-off area is just to the right of the bushes flanking the hill. Be mindful of the cables at the bottom.
