Paragliding Killarney East Eagles

Killarney, located in Queensland, Australia, offers excellent cross-country (XC) paragliding opportunities. The site features an eastern launch with an altitude of 1002 meters, recently grassed over. The valley in front leads to the Condamine Gorge, with Carr's Lookout visible on the horizon. A house thermal in front and slightly to the left of the launch is fed from the gorge. Head to Canungra, then Beaudesert, and on to Boonah. 2. After Boonah, turn left towards Maroon Dam/Rathdowney. 3. Follow the road until you reach Carney's Creek Road. **From Brisbane:** 1. Head southwest towards Ipswich. **Option A: Through Cunningham's Gap** 1. Before Ipswich, take the Warwick turn-off and head towards Warwick. 2. Continue on the Cunningham Highway over Cunningham's Gap. 3. After a Driver Reviver stop, continue for about 4.2 km and take a left signposted Queen Mary Falls and Cedar Route 14. 4. Pass through Freestone and take a left onto Freestone Creek Road. 5. After 2.1 km, take a right onto Jack Smith Gully Road. 6. At a 'T' intersection, take a left onto Settlers Route towards Yangan Town. 7. Continue to Emuvale, then take a right over the bridge next to the school. 8. In Tannymorel, decide whether to go straight to Killarney or access other launches from Tannymorel. **Option B: Via The Head/Teviot Gap** 1. From Ipswich, take the Boonah turn-off and continue through Boonah. 2. After Boonah, head along Boonah Rathdowney Road towards Rathdowney/Maroon Dam. 3. Take a right turn onto Carney's Creek Road. 4. Continue on Carney's Creek Road and take another right turn signposted The Head Road/Killarney. 5. This road will take you up the range and over Teviot Gap with Teviot Falls on your right. 6. Continue to Carr's Lookout for the North Eastern Launch or head down to Killarney for other launches. **Western/Fillon's Launch, Eastern/Eagle's Launch:** 1. From Warwick, take a left at Tannymorel and another left passing the war memorial. 2. From Killarney, take two right turns at the school/church and the war memorial. 3. Continue through Mt. Colliery, through a dip in the road, and further on where the road turns to dirt. 4. At a fork in the road, take the right fork up Gambugal Road. 5. Monitor UHF Channel 9 for logging trucks. 6. Before the third cattle grid, turn right onto Sunday Plains Road.
