Description
The Hasenmatt is the highest point in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland, standing at 1440 meters. This site offers an easy paragliding experience with a height difference of 840 meters, making it a unique flight.
Access is by car, with a parking area from which a hiking trail leads westward to the launch site. The hike takes approximately 30 minutes. The launch site faces southeast and is situated near a fire pit, with possible take-offs to the east and west of this area.
Due to its elevation, Hasenmatt is relatively susceptible to wind. The launch can be tight when flying over the trees. It is suitable for southeast to southwest wind conditions but can be very dangerous with Bise (northeast wind) and west winds. The eastern side is more turbulent. The small meadow to the southwest is not a launch site due to dangerous rotor effects and cliff starts.

To reach the launch site, drive from Solothurn to the Jura Pass transition. From there, follow the hiking trail to the launch site, which is a steep meadow with some small trees. Avoid launching in Bise and west wind conditions.
The Hasenmatt is an excellent practice ground due to its simple launch terrain and numerous landing options. Southeast winds work well here, providing reliable thermals that allow for cross-country flights to Grenchenberg and Mont Montoz.
