At an altitude of 1537 meters, this site is rarely used but offers some soaring opportunities and the possibility for cross-country flights. It's a good option if the cable car isn't operating.

To reach the launch site, drive up towards Kieneralm. Below the Pichlerhof, you'll find a steep meadow with launch directions ranging from southeast to southwest. Depending on the wind direction in the Pustertal, you can fly either towards Vintl or Mühlbach. With a west wind, it's best to fly towards Vintl due to the strong valley breeze, while an east wind favors a flight towards Mühlbach. Thermals may be accessible around midday near Pichlerhof. The owner of the meadow is the host of the Pichlerhütte in the ski area. It's a good idea to introduce yourself, have a Jagertee, and let him know you're using his meadow for launching.
Gitschberg offers several launch options and serves as a good starting point for cross-country flights along the Pustertal. The summit is exposed and provides a fantastic view of the Dolomites. Ski & Fly is well-suited here. In winter, the summit launch site is accessible via the cable car and chairlift. During summer and after the ski season, you typically need to hike from the mid-station and launch from the ski slope. If the cable car isn't running, you can hike up from Kieneralm (road between Meransen and Weitental). The landing site in Meransen is not reachable from mid-height without updrafts. Only land on mowed meadows in Meransen.
Pilots from the Batflyers Weitental club and the Flyart flight school launch from the east side of the mountain at 'Oberhof' (ask for launch permission at Oberhof) and use the thermals from there. The landing site at Lanerhof in Weitental is approached from the southeast launch site.
