Description
Located in the Saarland region of Germany, this paragliding site offers a beautiful mountain launch with a height difference of approximately 100 meters. The site is regularly used for soaring, and top landing is possible.
The northern launch is situated next to a chapel, with the landing zone at the base of the hill on the shortest-mown meadow. This spot provides excellent opportunities for soaring and thermal flying. On good days, flights to the nearby reservoir are common. Note that flying is only allowed with prior briefing, and residential areas must not be overflown. For briefing and information, contact 06872-99111 or 0177-4599111.
The southern launch is on a meadow below apple trees. The landing zone here is more challenging, located in a pasture at the base of the hill, with caution needed for trees in the meadow. Thermals are usually present given the right weather conditions.
Access to the launch site is through a gate (exit Ensdorf towards Hülzweiler), directly at the foot of the spoil heap. Parking is available near the sports facilities in Ensdorf, where the landing zone is also located. The path to the launch site is only accessible on foot, taking about 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level.
The site is managed by Gleitschirm-Freunde Hochwald e.V. and has a flight ban from April 1st to June 30th. Guest pilots must receive a briefing before flying.
