Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in Saarland, Germany, this paragliding site offers a modest elevation of 329 meters with a height difference of 120 meters. It is regularly used and provides some opportunities for soaring. Occasionally, cross-country flights are possible, but they are rare.
The site is managed by Gleitschirm-Freunde Hochwald e.V. and requires a B-license to fly. The takeoff is from a hill facing south, with a height difference ranging from 0 to 120 meters. During busy flying periods, pilots are advised to be fully prepared before laying out their gliders.
Important safety notes include avoiding overflying the sedimentation pond in the DSK area and maintaining a minimum altitude of 50 meters when crossing the road at the base of the hill.
Access to the launch site is through a gate located at the exit of Ensdorf towards Hülzweiler, near the sports facilities in Ensdorf where parking is available. The path to the launch site is only accessible on foot and takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your fitness level.
When the wind is from the south, soaring can be excellent. However, this is not a frequent occurrence. Landing can be challenging with southwest or west-southwest winds due to the narrow landing strip aligned directly south, making it short and difficult with side winds. It is advised to avoid flying in these conditions for safety reasons.
