Parapente Arran Maol Donn

Maol Donn is a rarely used paragliding site with no recorded flight logs. It is situated at a height of 368 meters and is best suited for an East wind. To reach the take-off point, park at grid reference NS 026 418 in a lay-by at the bottom of a new forestry road. Behind the lay-by, you will find a large boulder. Navigate between the boulder and the burn, then follow the track up through the forestry to the open hill. Continue left along a deer fence until you reach the trig point at NS 019 406. The take-off area is located in front of this trig point. The top landing area is adequate, but bottom landing options are limited. The closest bottom landing spot is at grid reference NS 028 412, a lay-by/car park on the shore side of the road. However, recent council modifications have introduced tarmac and 18-foot high posts around the car park, creating a hazard. The shore area, composed of sand and gravel, serves as a good alternative landing spot. It is advisable to inspect this area before flying. Additionally, there are good landing areas 2 kilometers further north in the village of Corrie. There are no access restrictions except for occasional deer stalking.
