Conditions Optimales
Description
Dun Fionn is a rarely used paragliding site, ideal for NE wind conditions. The takeoff point is at a height of 164 meters.
To reach Dun Fionn, drive south from Brodick and take the Corriegills road on your left, about 500 meters from the pier. Park at grid reference NS 034 346. From there, walk along a rough track for 1 kilometer, then continue up a footpath through forestry for another 500 meters. This path will lead you almost directly to the takeoff point, which is located beside a bench and stile at grid reference NS 045 338.
At the takeoff point, you'll find an Iron Age hill fort 100 meters to your right, which features a trig point and offers a marvelous viewpoint. It's worth the short walk to see the entire site, which isn't visible from the takeoff area. Be aware of power lines behind the takeoff point and along the edge of the trees. Bottom landing fields are available directly below the takeoff, but take note of the power lines as you walk past them.
From this site, it is possible to fly to Brodick beach or the fields behind Brodick pier. Dun Fionn is a low coastal site that can be flown in stronger winds compared to some other locations.
