Paragliding Zambrone

The launch site at Zambrone, with an elevation of 218 meters, is an easy spot to fly from. It is often used when the wind at Pizzo is too strong. Soaring and some cross-country flights are possible here. Top landing is straightforward. When the wind at Pizzo is too strong, Zambrone is a reliable alternative. The gently sloping launch meadow allows for easy top landing. Coastal soaring is delightful when the wind conditions are right. However, in weak wind conditions, staying airborne for extended periods can be challenging, though a glide to the beach is still feasible. The wind should come clearly from the sea; if it blows from the southwest, it can create unpleasant lee turbulence from the hills near Tropea. Directions: - Drive on SS 522 from Pizzo towards Tropea until kilometer 26. - Continue on SS 522 for about 300 meters towards Tropea. - Turn left towards Zambrone and drive up the winding road. - Turn right towards Daffina and continue to the launch site, which is about 50 meters seaward below the road where parking is available.
