The launch site is situated high above the sea, allowing pilots to gain altitude using thermals. The ridge extends for kilometers, making it ideal for soaring. You can land on the beach in the town of Bagnara Calabra or opt for a top-landing. The launch area is flat with a small section for the takeoff run. The consistent wind makes it manageable even for less experienced pilots. Under optimal conditions, you can soar left towards Scilla and right towards Palmi, achieving significant altitude gains. For those who top-land, nearby amenities include a Marcelleria where you can grab a panino or a motel for a coffee. Top-landing is moderately difficult and is best done on the adjacent parking lot rather than the launch site itself.
