Description
Sinilka is a paragliding site located near the town of Sliven in Bulgaria. It is occasionally used and offers opportunities for soaring and cross-country (XC) flights. The site record is 19.9 km.
Sinilka is most suitable for flying in strong southern winds, which create a large lift zone in front of the mountain. Even with weaker southeast or southwest winds, pilots can soar along the ridge. In lighter winds, the thermals are typically found further out, near the edge of the landing field and the vineyards.
The highest part of the Balkan hill Grebenets, Sinilka, is accessible only by 4x4 vehicles. The main launch site is at 970 meters above sea level on the Western Balkan, which is spacious and can accommodate multiple paragliders. For S and SE winds, the launch is gentle and suitable. In ESE winds, pilots can take off from the east side of the ridge behind the western launch.
There are two intermediate launch sites on the slope for SE and SW winds, accessible by car, with a displacement of 300 meters.
Notable flights from Sinilka include Galin Baykushev's 120 km flight to Karadzhalovo in May 2007 and Emil Kozhuharov's 100 km flight to Ravna Gora in 2008.
