Description
Vr.Sinilka (Gaba) is the highest part of the Balkan hill Grebenets, located near the town of Sliven, Bulgaria. This site is regularly used and offers good potential for cross-country (XC) flights. The site record is an impressive 140.3 km.
The takeoff area is most suitable for winds coming from the south (S), southwest (SW), south-southeast (SSE), and east-southeast (ESE). The slope displacement is approximately 760 meters, providing ample altitude for extended flights. The main departure point is the Western Balkan at 970 meters above sea level, which is spacious and clean, allowing for the setup of multiple paragliders.
Access to the takeoff points requires a 4x4 vehicle. If you continue along the crest, you will reach the start, which is gentle and suitable for S and SE winds. For ESE winds, you can take off from the east side of the ridge behind the western start.
There are also two intermediate takeoff points on the slope for SE and SW winds, accessible by car, with a displacement of 300 meters.
Notable flights from this site include Galin Baykushev's 120 km flight to Karadzhalovo in May 2007 and Emil Kozhuharov's 100 km flight to Ravna Gora in 2008.
