Description
Located at an altitude of 1820-1830 meters with a height difference of 1000 meters, this site offers three launch options directly by the church: W-SW, S, and E-SE. The open launch area is situated near the pilgrimage church and is regularly used by paragliders, with cross-country flights possible. Hang gliders also favor this spot, although it appears to be restricted to club members only. Note that flying is prohibited from October 15 to May 1.
The region is in Austria, and the site record is an impressive 188.8 km. A toll road leads to the Hochalm, with another launch site at approximately 1500 meters next to the toll road. Despite the significant altitude difference of nearly 1000 meters, the terrain is easy to fly. Before flying, you must contact the Zeltweg airfield for clearance at Tel: +43(0)50 201 525 4511. If the tower is not manned, clearance is automatically granted.

Access to the Hochalm is controlled by a barrier, which requires a €4 fee to open. The hike from the barrier to Hochalm Mitte takes about 1.5 hours, and to Hochalm Kirche about 2 hours. Flying is only permitted with club members. If the Zeltweg airfield is active, maintain 1000 feet GND.
The site is ideal for thermal and cross-country flights, and due to its generous launch and landing areas, it is also suitable for training flights. The flying season runs from May to August, 10:00 to 18:00, and from September to October 14, 10:00 to 17:00. There is a flight ban from October 15 to April 30.
The toll fee for the road is €5. For more details, contact the site manager at Flugschule Aufwind: [Aufwind](http://www.aufwind.at)
Access is by car via the toll road. The site is suitable for both paragliders and hang gliders and is an approved training area. From the Hochalm Mitte launch site, it is about a 30-minute hike to the Hochalm Kirche launch site. The launch area is large enough to lay out multiple wings. Remember to contact the Zeltweg airfield for clearance before flying.
