The site faces south, offering excellent thermals and opportunities for cross-country flights. You can enjoy a magnificent view of seven different lakes. The season aligns with the operating times of the cog railway, and it's also ideal for 'Hike & Fly'.

There are no take-off or landing fees. You can cross by ferry for about 5 Euros and take the cog railway for approximately 22 Euros (reduced to 10.50 Euros after 2 PM). The site is accessible via cable car and is suitable for paragliders. It is an approved training site. From the mountain station, head west for 5 minutes to find good take-off spots for SSO wind. The take-off area is a meadow. The landing field is on the opposite side of the lake, and the flight over the lake at its narrowest point is not problematic. Ensure no false thermals or rotor winds before take-off. In the afternoon, O-NO wind at Schafberg can make take-off impossible.

The west take-off follows a path to a gently sloping launch area. The take-off direction is S SW, and the difficulty is easy at an altitude of 1780 meters above sea level. The landing field is at Abersee-Reith, offering a comfortable landing meadow at the lakeshore.
Flights can be launched from southeast to southwest. The thermals are strong from midday. The take-off area has an ideal slope and is expansive, located above the tree line. Flying along the ridge is impressive, with the northeast face dropping hundreds of meters vertically to the shore of Mondsee. The final approach leads directly over St. Wolfgang to the other side of the lake at the Greinz family's campsite in Abersee. Ensure a minimum altitude of 350 meters over the lake for safe crossing due to potential downdrafts.

For walk and fly, the starting point is St. Gilgen Winkl. The well-marked hiking trail leads to the summit and take-off sites, taking about 2-3.5 hours to ascend. The last part of the hike is in full sun. There are also good landing spots near the starting point. Soaring conditions are excellent with the right wind (SO-SW), but landing in Abersee is unlikely; it's better to land in St. Wolfgang/Ried.
