Description
Hummel, located in the Einsiedeln region of Switzerland, is a popular paragliding site known for its excellent soaring conditions, especially with northeast winds (Bise). The site is suitable for pilots of all levels, offering easy takeoff and landing options.
The takeoff area is situated at an elevation of 1020 meters, with coordinates 8.774581, 47.103949. The launch direction is primarily north to northeast, and the site is accessible year-round. There are two main takeoff spots: one lower and one higher, both located on moderately steep grassy slopes and reachable via a forest path.
Despite the presence of a road, it is recommended to park your car at the sports field below and hike up to the launch site. The hike from the football field, located 1 km south of the village Ebenau and 0.5 km south of Grossbach, takes about 20 minutes.

When flying, the Bise wind allows for beautiful flights towards Euthal or in the direction of Weglosen / Hoch Ybrig. However, landing can be challenging due to strong headwinds. It is advised to avoid landing too close to the lake to prevent any mishaps. If landing on a mowed field near the sports field, be cautious of telephone lines and heavy traffic on the road.
For those interested in a "Walk and Fly" experience, the starting point is from Gross at Sihlsee. The hike to the upper launch site takes about an hour. If conditions are favorable, you can take off from the lower launch site after a 20-minute hike, saving yourself the steep climb to the top.
