Description
The Graitery site, located above Moutier, Switzerland, is well-known for its bi-annual acrobatic paragliding demonstrations organized by the Graitricks association. This site, facing north/northeast, is excellent for soaring due to its steep slopes and also offers beautiful evening flights.
The exit from this site can be quite long and potentially hazardous in strong or crosswinds, similar to most northern sites in the region. The path from Moutier is very rough, so it is recommended to reach the take-off point via Court and park at the Auberge du Graitery with Thérèse and Fredy. This will save your vehicle's suspension and your back.
If you still choose to ascend via Moutier, gather at the Polysport center before flying, even if you plan to land near the Gafner farm. Only 2 to 3 vehicles can park near this farm. The landing area above Polysport is almost always usable, though sometimes turbulent.

To reach the take-off point by vehicle, drive through Moutier to the large roundabout in the southern part of the town, pass under the railway line, and follow the signs to Graitery. At the first farm on the alpine terrain above the forest, follow the road that branches off to the right until you reach the plateau. The take-off area is a steep, short meadow in a forest clearing.
This charming, secluded area at 1200 meters above sea level offers a rewarding experience once you reach the summit, whether by car or on foot. The valley wind system and corresponding updrafts make for excellent soaring conditions. The sparsely frequented area has another advantage: local farmers are generally welcoming and do not mind landings on mowed fields. They often have a few kind words or even offer a ride.
The take-off is short and steep but not particularly complicated. If you cannot clear the trees, there is an option to land before the forest.
