The '800' launch is suitable for H2 (Hang Gliding Intermediate) and P4 (Paragliding Advanced) pilots. It is a good hike and fly location but doesn't offer significant advantages for paragliding beyond the exercise. It is an excellent launch for hang gliders, although carrying a hang glider up the 800 vertical feet on a rough trail can be challenging. There is potential for the road to this launch to be re-opened for vehicular access in the future.
The launch is a precipitous cliff off a road cut, creating a rotor zone and overlooking a steep grade with sharp granite riprap. This makes it difficult for paragliders due to the tight, sharp rotor zone. The '800' launch requires cliff launch experience and associated skills.
