Description
Le Suchet, located in the Jura mountains of the Vaud canton in Switzerland, offers a fantastic paragliding experience. The take-off site is situated at an altitude of 1590 meters, with a variety of launch directions available: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and Northwest. This makes it a versatile spot for different wind conditions, although it is not suitable during strong Bise winds due to its exposed position.
To reach the take-off site, drive from Baulmes to Le Suchet until you reach Chalet du Suchet. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to the launch area. The take-off zones are expansive grassy slopes, allowing for easy and safe launches in multiple directions.
The site is well-known for its cross-country potential, with a site record of 140.9 km. Pilots can enjoy soaring on the French side of the mountain when the wind is from the northwest. The elevation difference of around 1000 meters provides ample opportunity for extended flights and reliable thermals almost year-round, except in autumn when conditions are less favorable.
For those looking to join local pilots, they typically meet at their landing site 2 km southwest of Baulmes along the road. Meetings are scheduled at 13:30 on weekdays, 9:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, and 18:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays.
