Conditions Optimales
Description
Hauptstartplatz Greim, located at an altitude of 1820 meters with a height difference of 960 meters, is a popular paragliding site in the Murtal region of Austria. This site is well-suited for soaring and cross-country flights, making it a favorite among paragliders. The terrain is relatively easy, situated on the Sandkogel, and is also suitable for training purposes.
Top landing is possible, but you may need prior approval for landings, especially near Zeltweg. It's advisable to consult with local pilots for specific guidelines.
The site is accessible by car up to the Schöneben parking area, followed by a 20-minute walk. The launch area is a moderately steep meadow. Be mindful of grazing livestock and horses, especially from the beginning of the grazing season until mid-July. Maintain a safe distance when launching and flying over these areas.
The maximum operational altitude is 2300 meters within the MTMA Zeltweg airspace. For more detailed airspace information, refer to local resources.
The landing area, Mitterdorf, is a large meadow located 750 meters west of the Greimhalle, south of the main road, at an altitude of 830 meters. Note that if the grass is too high, this landing area should not be used.
There are no fees for launching or landing at this site. The paragliding season is year-round, provided that the access road is passable during snowy conditions.
For more information, you can contact the local paragliding school, Flugschule Aufwind, at [Aufwind](http://www.aufwind.at), or visit [Flugsportfreunde](http://www.flugsportfreunde.at/).
Wind and weather conditions can be monitored via a webcam facing St. Peter and Greim. Use the username 'gast' to access the webcam.
After your flight, you might want to visit the 'Marktcafe' in St. Peter am Kammersberg for a refreshing drink.
For directions, from the landing area, head up the road past St. Peter am Kammersberg. After about 1 km on the lower plateau, look for a sign towards Greim at a snack station. Continue for a few kilometers until you reach a gravel road on the left at a right-hand curve in the forest, leading to Schöneben. The Greimhütte is straight ahead. From the Schöneben parking area, it's a 50-meter walk uphill. This site is also suitable for hang gliders.
