Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in Aigen, Austria, this paragliding site offers an elevation of 1257 meters with a height difference of 823 meters, making it suitable for easy to medium-level pilots. The site is frequently used and is known for excellent soaring conditions and potential for cross-country (XC) flights.
In the Aigen region, the site record stands at 176.5 km, while another nearby site in Salzburg, Gaisberg, boasts the same record distance. For more information about the club and specific regulations, visit [Paragleiter Club](http://www.paragleiter.com/).
There are important rules regarding airspace that must be read and followed. Detailed flight regulations for Gaisberg can be found here:
- [Flight Regulations](http://www.paragleiter.com/gaisberg/flugordnung/)
- [Flight Area Gaisberg](http://www.paragleiter.com/gaisberg/fluggelande-gaisberg/)
A daily membership costing 5€ is required to fly here, which can be purchased at the 'Gaisbergwirt'. Be aware of weather hazards, particularly the Foehn winds.
Due to the proximity of Salzburg Airport, special regulations are in place to ensure the area remains open for paragliding. Compliance with these regulations is mandatory.
Parking directly on the road near the landing zone is not allowed. The meeting point is approximately 200 meters southeast at the campsite, where parking and a cozy lounge are available. Alternatively, groups can share a taxi for around 15€.
Thermal and cross-country flying opportunities are available from January through July, although the site is flyable year-round. For long-distance flights, it is advisable to start early, preferably before noon, heading predominantly south.
The main challenge here is the Salzburg Airport CTR zone, which requires adherence to numerous regulations. Pilots must register in the logbook and pay a landing fee. Since 2007, it has been mandatory to notify the airport when flying in the Gaisberg or Schwarzenberg areas.
