- Do not fly closer to the airport than the landing zones.
Take-off and Landing:
- No fees for take-off or landing. The club LUFTIKUS requests adherence to the following rules:
- Main take-off point: NNW direction above Zeppezauerhaus, from the gravel cone near the hut with the cable tension of the mountain railway (windsock available). Suitable for both hang gliders (HG) and paragliders (PG).
- Alternative take-off points: W direction at the West take-off point above Hochalm. In winter, take-off directions S and E are also possible at Salzburger Hochthron.
- HG launch ramp at Hochalm (W direction) can be used for free since the new operators (Monika and Sascha) manage Hochalm.
Landing Zone:
- For PG, only at Gasthof Esterer in Fürstenbrunn, next to the visible tennis courts (windsock available). HG must land on the designated meadow in Fürstenbrunn. No other private agreements exist for landing permissions. Landing on properties owned by Mayr-Melnhof Forestry, including 'Schnöllwiese,' is not desired. Unauthorized landings are considered trespassing. Consuming a 'landing beer' at Gasthof Esterer, which provides the landing meadow, is a courtesy.
CTR of Salzburg Airport:
- Refer to the Luftikus website. For example, do not fly into the area around Schloss Glanegg or land on the meadows in front of it.
- Study the airspace before flying.
LUFTIKUS Club:
- LUFTIKUS leases all take-off points at Untersberg and requests all pilots to comply with the flight restrictions prescribed by AUSTRO-CONTROL and agreed with the landowners.
Additional Information:
- More details about take-off and landing zones are available at the valley station of the cable car, the main take-off point NNW, and Gasthof Esterer at the PG landing zone.

- Minimum flight altitude on the mountain is 50 meters GND.
- From Großwasserfall towards the west (before Klingeralm), at least 250 meters GND.
- Behavior on the ground and in the air must be considerate of wildlife and plant life. Avoid wild animals widely.
- Adhere to the special regulations of Salzburg air traffic control:
- Only for landing approach to the designated landing meadow in Fürstenbrunn, fly below 100 meters GND into the CTR.
The leaflet issued by Untersbergbahn must be observed and can be viewed at the ticket office. Key points include:
- Start and landing on the ski slope (Hochthron - Kugestattboden) and landing in the valley station area (including parking lot) are not permitted by Untersbergbahn Ges.m.b.H.
- The transport of hang gliders may be restricted to certain times by the operations manager for operational reasons (bulkiness).
Difficulty:
- Small natural take-off sites, suitable only for experienced pilots.
- The main take-off point above Zeppezauerhaus has been leveled and slightly expanded by the club. However, start safety is required.
Please observe the requirements for landing approach to the landing meadow. See below under 'Landing Zones.'
For more details, visit the Fürstenbrunn view and the Untersberg page on our website: [Untersbergbahn](http://www.members.aon.at/untersbergbahn/Untersbergbahn.htm).
Take-off:
- PG gravel cone (also for HG in NNW), HG small ramp.
- Take-off direction: N.
- Difficulty: medium.
- Elevation: 1750m.
- The gravel cone serving as the main take-off point for PG is located below the hut to which the cable car tension cables are attached. Suitable for experienced pilots.
- HG can also take off from the ramp below Hochalm (W direction).
Take-off Hochthron:
- Take-off direction: W.
- Difficulty: hard.
- Elevation: 1853m.
- From the cable car mountain station, walk 15 minutes west. 50 meters north of the summit cross at Hochthron is a nearly flat area just large enough to lay out a glider.
- Take off westward over a small 5-meter-high cliff with dense dwarf pines below. Not dangerous but suitable only for confident pilots in good laminar west wind.
- Failed launches end in the dwarf pines, which can be tricky to retrieve a glider from.
- Frequent flyers and good tandem pilots also start here.
