Description
Monte Tenchia offers a paragliding experience with a takeoff altitude of 1,547 meters above sea level and a height difference of 1,000 meters. The site is regularly used and suitable for soaring and cross-country (XC) flights. There is a hang gliding ramp, and most pilots take off from the top. The launch area features a wooden ramp for hang gliders and a grassy field for paragliders, with fixed wind indicators. The takeoff wind direction is typically from the south.
The landing zone is located at an altitude of 560 meters and is a well-maintained grassy field measuring 320 meters by 120 meters. The wind at the landing site can come from the south or northeast, and there is a fixed windsock for guidance.
To reach the takeoff point, drive approximately 100 meters before the Church of Cercivento, turn right at the junction following the signs for Monte Tenchia, and continue for about 10 kilometers on an asphalt road. The wooden ramp is located on the right side of the road.
For landing, take the A23 highway and exit at Carnia. Head towards Tolmezzo, then follow the signs for Austria (Passo Monte Croce Carnico). At the Sutrio junction, turn left towards Cercivento (2 km). The landing field is next to the sports field, with clear signage.
Cross-country flying is possible in all directions from this site. The local club, Gruppo Volo "Nido delle Streghe" of Cercivento, manages the area.

Avoid flying with north winds as they can be dangerous. The valley wind system can become quite strong in the afternoon, so ensure you have enough altitude over the village to safely reach the landing zone. The locals are very helpful, especially if you speak a bit of Italian. For weather information in the Friuli region, visit [Meteo Friuli](http://151.8.71.28/~www/DE/HOME/index.php).
