Description
Wamp! - Mona Vale
Wamp! is a powerful beach break located at the north end of Mona Vale beach, featuring both right and left breaking waves over a sandy bottom. The spot is known for its fast, ledgey, and slab-like waves, particularly during low to mid tide on a falling tide. Conditions are best with swells from the west, east, or northeast, and winds from the north, northwest, west, or southwest.
This surf spot is primarily suited for bodyboarders due to its heavy shorebreaks, which can resemble the mini Waimea shorebreak in Hawaii. While it can be fun on a good day, many sessions may end in closeouts. Access is straightforward, requiring a short walk from the main beach near the pool to Bongin Bay. Although the area can get busy during optimal conditions, it generally sees fewer surfers compared to nearby beaches. Caution is advised due to rips, undertow, and potential pollution.
