Bungan - Australia
Bungan is a sandbar wave that breaks both right and left over a sandy bottom mixed with rock. This spot works best at low and mid tide, particularly during falling tide conditions. Access involves a short walk (5-15 minutes) down a steep private driveway or via an access lane from Barrenjoey Road.
Nestled at the base of cliffs, Bungan offers a secluded surfing experience, making it a favorite for those seeking less crowded waves. While it can be empty during the week, weekends may see a few surfers, especially in summer when parking becomes challenging. The northern end features great lefts and rights, while the southern end is known for its steep right-hand barrels. Despite its sometimes messy conditions, Bungan can surprise surfers with quality waves when other spots are flat. Be prepared for a bit of a trek, but the rewards are well worth it.
