Best Conditions
Description
Altitude: 1300 meters
This site is frequently used by hang gliders and occasionally by paragliders. Cross-country flights are possible.
Region: Norway
Site record: 74.3 km
The south-facing launch offers excellent conditions even in strong winds, thanks to unusually laminar airflow. This is likely one of Norway's best flying sites, especially for hang gliders. The mountain ridge provides great opportunities for ridge soaring, and the thermals are large, smooth, and offer substantial lift, making it a good starting point for distance flights. The site is suitable for pilots of all levels and is an excellent place to learn ridge soaring, thermal circling, or to embark on your first cross-country flights.
To reach the launch, drive up to Flattron and park at the first parking area on the left. Walk southwest for 100 meters to find the wind marker. Do not drive your car to the launch area.
