Description
The Tristenkopf, standing at 1708 meters, is a rarely used Walk and Fly summit, overshadowed by Bezau and Andelsbuch. It offers launch possibilities in almost all wind directions. However, be cautious of turbulence from the main ridge during strong south winds.
The Tristenkopf features a beautiful south-facing slope that leads directly into a basin, where you can often catch good thermals coming from Andelsbuch.
Landing options within glide range include Schetteregg or Andelsbuch. In winter, the ascent is also feasible with snowshoes or touring skis.
Flight characteristics are similar to those from Niedere (Andelsbuch/Bezau).
The launch is straightforward, but don't underestimate the effort required for the hike. Ensure you carry enough drinking water.
For Walk and Fly, the starting point is the base station of the Schetteregg ski area. Alternatively, you can start from the mountain or valley stations of the Andelsbuch or Bezau cable cars. If you prefer a quieter route, walk east along the ridge from the mountain stations and take the first left.
By car, drive towards the Schetteregg ski area from Egg. At the end, refresh yourself at Gasthof Jockler, then hike upwards for 1-2 hours, depending on your fitness and the weight of your paraglider. There is a fork in the path: the right path is easier but longer, while the left path has some sections with wire ropes and requires you to turn right again up the mountain (a small path that becomes very steep on the alpine meadow).
For landing, use the large meadow in Schetteregg (indicated by the hotel flags) or the main landing field in Andelsbuch, both within glide range.
