Description
The launch site in Trysil is best suited for slight southwest winds and is occasionally used for hike & fly. It offers good thermal soaring conditions and the possibility of small cross-country flights.
The elevation difference from the 'lower launch' (covered in heather) to the 'landing' at Grønstad, directly in front of the marshes, is 300 meters. From the top launch, which had a snow cornice suitable for launching on April 30th, the elevation difference is 360 meters. In the summer, launching is possible but more challenging due to scree and patches of heather.
It takes about an hour of easy walking from the Southeast launch, but you can also hike from Grønstad. This route involves climbing all the elevation plus crossing the marsh, taking approximately 1.5 hours or more.
