Description
H 970 is occasionally used, mostly by hang gliders, for soaring. The launch site is at an altitude of 960 meters above sea level with a height difference of 420 meters.
To get there, head towards 'Stai Bru' north of Kvikne center, cross the bridge, and turn left. The road is in good condition and leads all the way to the top. Note that it is a toll road.
The launch area is almost in the middle of the picture to the right of the road. The photo was taken at the top of the main mountain (1056 meters above sea level), approximately 150 meters above the lower launch site. You can launch from the top along the entire edge and also top-land anywhere you like, including hang gliders. It is similar to the south launch on Tronfjell.
If you want to reach the top, continue driving along the road into the valley. You will be almost at the edge, with about 870 meters of flat walking along a trail along the ridge if the wind is coming from the east. If the wind is from the north or northeast, you can start almost immediately, with about 200 meters of flat walking along the trail.
