Description
The launch site at Rammelsberg in Goslar, Germany, is frequently used for soaring and cross-country flights. It is suitable only for precise southwest to west winds. The elevation is 667 meters with a height difference of 250 meters. The site is popular among paragliders, and the flight area record is 162.4 km. For more details, visit [HDGV Goslar](http://www.hdgv-goslar.de/html/rammelsberg.html).
The Radspitze launch site is located along the B 303 between Marktrodach and Stadtsteinach, near Seibelsdorf. It is ideal for southwest winds, with slight deviations to south-southwest or west-southwest still being acceptable. However, caution is advised if the wind comes from the west or south, as it can be dangerous. The launch site is a forest clearing, and unfamiliar pilots should seek prior briefing due to the terrain's unique characteristics.
A weather station is available at the site, accessible via mobile phone at 0151 22 72 37 06. The site is managed by the Nordbayerische Drachenflieger e.V., with Arno Greiner as the site manager. Non-members need a day membership costing 5 euros, and must have approved equipment, liability insurance, and a valid flight license.
The Radspitze is about 8 km east of Kronach in Upper Franconia, with a launch elevation of 675 meters and a height difference of 270 meters. The west-facing slope offers good flying conditions with frequent west wind conditions, but turbulence can occur if the wind is not from the southwest to west. The last 100 meters to the setup area must be covered on foot.
