Description
The Neidlingen paragliding site in Germany is highly popular and frequently used. It offers excellent soaring conditions and is well-suited for cross-country flights. The site features both a ramp and a natural launch area.
The launch site is located at an elevation of 770 meters, with a height difference of 270 meters. The area is known for its beautiful scenery along the Albtrauf. When the wind picks up, you can enjoy great flights along the long ridge, and with enough altitude, you can even jump to the next ridge. However, the narrow and steep forest clearing requires pilots to have a secure launch technique. Be cautious of the small lee that forms north of the launch site in stronger winds, caused by the nearby mountain. Always observe the windsock or wind indicators.
Due to frequent high traffic, only one pilot can lay out their wing at a time, so it's important to prepare on the adjacent meadow.
Landing options are limited to two designated areas between the trees, so make sure to get proper guidance.
To reach the site, drive from Neidlingen towards Wiesensteig, ascend the Albaufstieg, and park at the hiking parking lot on the left side of the road. From there, it's about an 800-meter walk north along the path. Do not drive on any field paths. After a short climb, you'll reach the launch site marked by a windsock.
For those who prefer to hike up, take the path from the lower landing area to the upper one, then head south towards the forest edge, turn right towards Neidlingen, and take the second left turn. Follow the path to the dip between the parking lot and the launch site.
Guests need a one-time briefing and registration and can fly after purchasing a day pass (3 Euros) in the presence of a club member. If no club member is present, only members of TV Bissingen and Drachenfliegerclub Neuffen can fly without signing the guest flight book. Pilots not affiliated with these clubs must register in the guest list before flying and can only fly in the presence of a club member.
Special site-specific regulations include maintaining a minimum distance of 200 meters from the quarry cliff for bird protection, documenting every launch in the flight book, and avoiding loud conversations and calls in the air after 8 PM. The site is within the Alb-Nord gliding sector in Stuttgart's airspace D, so familiarize yourself with the specific regulations. Flights should be uploaded to DHV-XC or similar servers 24 hours after landing.
