Description
The paragliding site near Burg Hohenneuffen in Germany offers an excellent experience for both novice and experienced pilots. The launch site is situated at an elevation of 700 meters with a height difference of 225 meters, making it suitable for easy to medium difficulty flights. This site is highly frequented and offers excellent cross-country flying opportunities. However, please note that as of 2021, no new guest pilots are being admitted.
The launch area features a wide clearing, making takeoffs straightforward. When the wind comes from the west, be sure to observe the wind indicators in addition to the windsock to avoid lee turbulence. Due to the high demand, only one pilot can lay out their wing at a time, so prepare your gear on the adjacent field.
The landing zone is located at the forest edge below the launch site. The windsock is positioned in the middle at the northern end. The landing area has a slope in the western third, which can cause modern paragliders to overshoot, potentially leading to abrupt stops by trees or a hut at the northwestern edge. In calm wind conditions, landing from the east is preferred. Parking at the landing site is not allowed; park in the village and walk up (about 3-5 minutes).
Access to the site is via the A8 motorway between Stuttgart and Munich. You can take the Wendlingen exit towards Nürtingen, pass through Frickenhausen and Neuffen, and head up the Alb towards Erkenbrechtsweiler, turning left before the village towards Burg Neuffen. Alternatively, take the Kirchheim Ost exit towards Owen, pass through Beuren, and head up the Alb towards Erkenbrechtsweiler, turning right after the village towards Burg Neuffen.
Guest pilots must register before their first flight. The registration form and daily permit can be downloaded from the club's website. For flights after 8:00 PM, pilots are requested to avoid loud conversations and shouting in the air to respect local wildlife and residents.
Top-landing is possible, but pilots should get a briefing beforehand. For more information on top-landing, visit [Top-Landing Information](http://www.dgcw.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=128:toplanden-am-neuffen&catid=1&Itemid=2).
Parking information for the northern landing site can be found at [Parking Information](http://www.dgcw.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=178:parken-in-beuren&catid=1&Itemid=2).
The airspace around the launch site is limited due to thermal conditions and proximity to Stuttgart Airport. Pilots must be aware of airspace regulations and obtain necessary clearances for flights above 4,500 feet MSL. The airspace is controlled, and pilots must carry a radio tuned to 123.250 MHz.
For more details on flying regulations and guest pilot rules, visit [DC Hohenneuffen](http://www.dc-hohenneuffen.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=368&Itemid=59).
Remember to keep the launch and landing areas clean and respect the local environment and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable flying experience.
