Paragliding Luss Loch Lomond
Best Conditions
Optimal Wind Direction
Optimal Speed (mph)
Description
This site is rarely used and is best suited for hike & fly enthusiasts and scenic flights. It offers nice downhill flights, particularly with SE/SSE winds. For optimal conditions, consider taking off from a higher launch point than this one. There are endless takeoff options available.
Takeoff: From the parking spot, go through the gate and head north through the field. Follow the track that leads up through birch trees, past a mobile phone base station, and onto bracken-covered slopes. You can take off from any suitable spot above the gate/fence.
Landing: This site is not recommended for beginners due to the field with powerlines on three sides, located immediately above the parking area. Landing in Luss village has been done but can cause problems.
Comments: This is a rarely flown site with wind directions heavily influenced by the N-S axis of Loch Lomond, making conditions rather fickle and unreliable. However, the spectacular views make it worth the effort.
