Description
The take-off site is located halfway up the mountain and is frequently used. It offers excellent soaring conditions and is suitable for cross-country flights. The grassy launch area is right next to the hiking trail to Jöchelspitze. During training operations, students have priority.
This is a beautiful, relatively simple, and manageable area. It is well-frequented but not overcrowded, making it ideal for cross-country flights.

The terrain in Lechtal is thermally interesting. The local paragliding school, Airsport, is located directly at Landing Zone 2. Note that it is over 2 km uphill from the landing zone to the cable car station. Organizing a shuttle service is advisable, or you can inquire at the paragliding school. The area is not overcrowded, with large, safe landing meadows. It is suitable for flying in various wind conditions and allows for high altitudes (cloud base over 4000 MSL). The wind direction ranges from west to east.
Season: The Jöchelspitze is located on the north side of the Lechtal (south-facing slope). The launch site is at two-thirds of the peak height, which protects it from the Bavarian north wind for a long time.
Special Features: The mountain is thermally active almost year-round, with a high base often exceeding 3000 m. It is particularly excellent in late winter (February, March), where on good days, you can reach 3000 m.
There are no start or landing fees, and no toll fees for access.
The cable car provides easy access to the launch site. The area is suitable for paragliders and is an approved training ground, making it easy for beginners.
Location: The area is not overcrowded, with large, safe landing meadows. Training can be conducted in various wind conditions, and high altitudes are possible (cloud base over 4000 MSL). It is also thermally favorable in autumn, with access via a comfortable double chairlift.
Altitude differences range from 750 to 1200 m. Launch directions include south, southwest, and west, but it is dangerous with north winds. There are three launch sites: the dragon ramp next to the mountain restaurant facing west, and three grassy areas at different heights for southern directions, all considered easy.
The landing zone is at the western end of Bach, near the football field, with a large landing meadow. However, be cautious of strong and gusty valley winds, which can vary throughout the day but generally blow up the valley.
Cross-country flights: Bach is a hotspot for this. The inner alpine location and proximity to the Inntal offer almost unlimited kilometer potential. However, strong thermals, complex wind systems, and the intense valley wind require caution.

This is an excellent area for beginners in cross-country flying. The best conditions are from February to June. It is rarely crowded, leaving plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The area is known for its early thermal activity, with the Klimmspitze - south side being famous for strong thermals.
The terrain is highly thermic with large base heights, ideal for cross-country beginners. It is good in weak wind conditions but can be turbulent otherwise. The north-east valley wind disrupts thermals in summer, and the 'Bavarian Wind' from the north becomes noticeable from the early afternoon, causing lee-side flying. The high base ensures consistently good thermals.
Difficulty: Foehn conditions and the north-east valley wind can be disruptive. The only significantly disturbing winds come from the northwest and north. The cable car wires must be overflown with at least a 50-meter height difference.
Soaring conditions: Along the south-facing slopes of the Lechtal. In the evening, you can also cross to Sonnenkogel and soar on the west slope until late.

Access: From the east, it is best to travel via Füssen (Germany) to Reutte (Austria) and follow the Lech to Bach. From the west, travel through the Bregenzer Wald over the Hochtannberg Pass and Warth.

Southwest launch: Direction SW, easy, altitude 1800 m. The dragon ramp is best with west wind conditions.
East launch: Direction E, altitude 1800 m, mainly used in winter.
Water basin launch: Direction S, easy, altitude 1900 m, primarily used for training, located ten minutes above the mountain station.
Lachenkopf launch: Directions SE, S, medium difficulty, altitude 1950 m, about a 20-minute walk above the mountain station.
