Description
The grassy summit of Hohe Salve offers excellent flying conditions. Early in the year, you can already find thermal updrafts here. You can reach Hohe Salve via the cable car from Söll or Hopfgarten. All launch sites are located around the summit area. Please use only the new, official landing site! It is located about 500 meters from the Söll valley station, approximately 80 meters west of the lowest parking lot, and is marked by a clearly visible windsock. When landing, be mindful of the nearby power lines (especially in strong valley winds) and potential tractor traffic.
The region of Hopfgarten/Söll in Austria is well-utilized and offers good cross-country flying opportunities. The site record is 173.2 km. The area is nice with various launch directions, and the landing zone depends on your parking place.
The cable car provides access to the launch sites, which are visible from the mountain station. The launch areas are grassy. Be cautious of the lift cables.

The Hohe Salve is particularly suitable as a winter and spring flying site due to the early presence of updrafts. However, it can get crowded. Launching is possible in almost all directions, but hang gliders should note that the north launch is relatively flat. The area is not particularly prone to Föhn or north winds.
Winter operations run until early April, and the summer season lasts from mid/end of May to mid-October.
